BBFC Ratings
12A' means that anyone aged 12 or over can go and see the film unaccompanied. Strong language can be used in a 12A however it has to be infrequently used, the use of moderate language in a 12A results in films being rated - possibly looking at our entire film I think that it doesn't really suit a 12A criteria, due to some of the factors that our play entails. In a 12A there are only moderate uses of some of the items that we as a group want to use quite frequently especially different forms of violence - sticking to our thriller theme and some of the conventions of a thriller. In many ways a horror film can be passed as a 12A but only on the physical ans psychological threat, but yet again on a moderate basis, so looking at a 12A pass overall I don't think our film would be suitable to fit in that criteria.
15' No-one under 15 is allowed to see a ‘15’ film at the cinema or buy/rent a ‘15’ rated DVD or video game. Parents are warned that ‘15’ rated works are not suitable for children under 15 years of age. A 15 rated film involves much more in it than a 12 or 12A - it entails factors of strong violence, frequent strong language, sexual nudity, drug taking. Some of these items relate to our film a lot, and the 15 rated film criteria seems to suit us quite well. A 15 rated film in relation to a horror film - there is allowance of strong threat menace although strongest gory images are likely to be accepted. This suits my group an I very well due to the factor that our story doesn't involve any of the items that go against a 15 horror film. In conclusion a 15 rated film seems to suit us best, due to it being open for a younger audience but can also relate to an older audience as well. I was still interested in some of the 18 rated film criteria' No-one under 18 is allowed to see an ‘18’ film at the cinema or buy/rent an ‘18’ rated DVD or video game.
• strong portrayals of sexual activity
• scenes of sexual violence• strong horror
• strong blood and gore --> these are some of the factors that come under an 18 film, in some ways relates to our film, however were not going to use some of the 18 rated classification bases in our film in such depth so and 18 rated film doesnt relate to us as much.
Looking at the different classification ratings of films the one that suits us the most and has the best proposal to support our film in it's ratings would have to be a 15 due to it opening up the horror genre on a simple bases but still portraying it's tension and keeping some of it's main conventions, which is one of our main aims, making a horror film suitable for a younger audience to understand and be allowed to watch and also being able to connect with an older age band at the same time.

Production company.
Fox search light pictures - Entire logo used to convey meaning intended and avoid tarnishing or misrepresenting the intended image. This would be good for my film enabling me o project my message through the position of the logo, from the start.Significance of the logo is to help the reader identify the organization, illustrate the organisations intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey. By doing this research there is a clear identification that possibly using 20th century fox in our film as the production company would be a great strategy to use - as one of our main tasks is to portray our main message at the the start of the opening two minutes and as a strict and as clear as possible.
Fox Searchlight Pictures specialises in independent and British films and would be a great way in representing our film for us sticking to the traditional bases of production, and representing out country, alongside producing films in the horror genre side, attracting me strongly for possibly using this production company as they have specialised in the category that we want to use in our film - being the genre of horror.
Films like One hour photo (2002), 28 weeks later(2007), Notes on a scandal(2006) and Black Swan (2010) all convey many of the features that we would like to use in our film also. They are all from different years and with-hold many different techniques that could enable us to produce a hot topic film. Taking this company into consideration would be a great idea.
Paramount Pictures.
America's oldest existing film studio could benefit us to represent our uniqueness of being an original movie and having the oldest existing film company could all result in us being represented as something special and different which is one of our keys in producing our film. Paramount consists of several film labels including, the legendary paramount pictures themselves, MTV films, Nickelodeon movies, Paramount Vantage, and Paramount classics. By using Paramount pictures it would enable us to attract many different target audiences all at one time. With their knowledge on how the film business works and with producing many different films that suit different groups of people, they would be able to help mould our film into something fresh that suits many different target audiences.
Producing films like Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde (1931) Shutter Island (2010) Paranormal Activity 2 (2010) and Hansel and Gretel : Witch Hunters all of these films mentioned above all entail on the factor of a psychological thriller, action horror, or a supernatural horror. The fact that Paramount Pictures have made a vast variety of horror films opens my eyes to believe that they are also another production company that would be useful to take into consideration as they know the real factors of horror/thriller films and know the types of techniques to use to appeal to many different target audiences at one time.
Newline production is a visionary film company, and is also a independent film studio, once again reinforcing the fact that we want our film to have a sense of independence Newline could help us establish this factor. Newline operates on several divisions in the filming production business, showing it's versatility in the film production establishment and how this could benefit us also by them knowing so much about how the business works. Producing films like Se7en (1995), Bones (2001), Freddie Vs Jason (2003), The Texas Chain Saw Massacre also in (2003) and Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) all of these films interlink on the process of us wanting to produce a horror/psychotic film. Newline could represent and help us in producing something of a unusual but engulfing film .In addition all 3 production companies have great history and knowledge in the genre of horror which is the two of our main achievements, a company who can give us the biggest inspiration in helping us to achieve a eye/mind gripping thriller/horror. In the factor of making a final decision which has to be done the company that I would individually choose would have to be Paramount Pictures and the reasons for my decision with that production company would be for the following: I believe it has the greatest amount of knowledge that could benefit my group and my self as it knows all of the main and smallest details about producing a strong, effective and memorable film. The fact that it has also created many different film labels within it immediately gives me the assumption that they entail in the knowledge of knowing how to accumulate many different target audiences - which is one of our main goals. Finally I think Paramount Pictures would be good to use as it's represents so many things all at one time, I like the fact that it has originality and uniqueness with in and could really mould my group and my self's film into something special.
Through further discussion my group and I have decided that we are going to use our own production company name of J.E.S in association with Newline Cinema, due to us now believing that they have the right knowledge and can represent us really well.
